NEWS - Universal Audio Appoints HHB As Exclusive UK Distributor
Rapid expansion continues at HHB Communications, with the company announcing its appointment as exclusive UK distributor for Universal Audio’s full range of analogue and digital audio products.
Based in Santa Cruz, California, Universal Audio has gained a first-class reputation based on its vintage analogue reproductions and advanced Digital Signal Processing technology.
The company was founded in 1999 by Bill Putnam Jr. and his brother Jim. Their father, Bill Putnam Sr., is regarded by many as a true innovator of modern recording technology, responsible for numerous classic audio products.
UA’s impressive analogue hardware range includes the newly-released Solo series of Mic Preamps - which sees UA reaching new levels of affordability - through to uncompromising reissues of legendary audiophile equipment such as the LA3A Audio Leveler, first debuted in 1969, and the 1176LN Limiting Amplifier.
Other products, such as the all-tube LA610 Classic Recording Channel, bring the tonal heritage of early Bill Putnam Sr. designs bang up to date in modern formats, allowing perfect integration with today’s DAW-based project studios.
UA also boasts an award-winning range of software products. The UAD-1 DSP card rapidly established itself as one of the most popular DSP effect platforms on the market. Utilising high-powered DSP to offload the processing burden of plug-ins from the host computer’s CPU, the UAD-1 offers a wide range of high calibre effects, digitally recreated from analysis of classic analogue equipment. Most recently UA have collaborated with AMS Neve to produce a UAD-1 emulation of the classic Neve 1073 EQ module just the first in a series of vintage Neve plug-ins planned for the near future.
The UAD-1 is now available as a high-performance PCI-e card, in addition to its original standard PCI format.
Speaking on behalf of HHB, Director of Distributed Brands Howard Jones says, “Universal Audio is a unique company, offering both premium quality analogue hardware alongside some of the most highly regarded software products currently available. The company’s deep rooted understanding of what makes great audio shines through in every product they make.”
Matt Ward, President of Universal Audio comments, “HHB has an outstanding track record in distributing pro audio products and backing them up with first-class customer support. We’re really looking forward to working with them to further build the UA brand in the important UK market.”
